10 Things I Hate About You ft. Grete Henriette

‘Ten Things I Hate About You’ will be a semi-regular feature on our blog where we get ten thoughts from some of the sharpest minds on some of the hardest-hitting topics.

For the second instalment, we spoke to Grete Henriette. Grete has come a long way since we were neighbours in Cape Town, where I used to visit her apartment and watch her create baroque-inspired dresses out of literal curtains every night before we went out. Even then, it always seemed like she was destined for big things.

In the years since, Grete has moved to London, where her intricate chainmail, metal, and beadwork pieces, often mixed with natural elements, have been worn by celebrities like Paris Hilton, Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Sam Smith, Tems, BLACKPINK, and others. Her work has also been featured in Vogue, i-D, Glamour, Metal, Elle, Gay Times, W, GQ, Harper’s BAZAAR, and on many "designers to watch" lists. Most recently, Grete unveiled her debut couture collection, Elysium, at London Fashion Week.
